Celebrating One Year of Hustle for Happiness

Wow, it’s hard to believe it’s been a whole year since I launched my podcast! As I sit here reflecting on our journey so far, I feel overwhelmed with gratitude for each and every one of you who have supported me along the way.

When I started Hustle for Happiness, I was feeling lonely and isolated. My passion has always been connecting with people and sharing stories, so podcasting felt like the perfect way to build community. Little did I know just how much this experience would change my life!

You know, the inspiration for starting this podcast really stems from a deep passion I’ve always had – connecting with people. I’m the type of person who, if you catch me in line at the grocery store or waiting for my coffee, I want to hear your story.

There’s something so meaningful to me about crossing paths with a stranger and learning about their life, hopes, struggles – and realizing we all have more in common than we think. All those random encounters have left me feeling so uplifted and grateful.

When life got busy, it seemed harder to have those serendipitous connections. But I didn’t want to lose that sense of community. So podcasting felt like the perfect way to evolve what I love – curating compelling stories from all walks of life and sharing them with others.

Now I get to have in-depth conversations with guests across the world and introduce their voices and perspectives to my listeners. I’m still learning so much from each and every person I speak to. And the feedback I get tells me others find value in their words too.

This podcast has truly become an extension of my passion for human connection. I’m so thankful I can continue cultivating meaningful bonds even when I’m not chatting in line at the store. It’s been such a fulfilling journey so far.

Over the past 365 days, I’ve had the honor of interviewing some truly inspiring guests. People from all walks of life who have overcome adversity to find purpose and joy. Their willingness to be vulnerable and share their experiences has taught me so much. I’ve also grown tremendously in my skills like public speaking, time management and embracing imperfection.

Most of all, I’ve realized just how much strength I can gain from opening up and being vulnerable myself. Sharing my own story of being adopted and the challenges I faced has been incredibly healing. Each time I put myself out there, it gets a little easier and I learn to love myself a little more. I’m so grateful to have found a platform where I feel safe to do that.

When I started this podcast journey, perfectionism was a huge hurdle I had to overcome. As someone who grew up in the foster system, I developed the belief that I had to be perfect to be loved and accepted.

Stepping out from behind the mic each week required facing some of my deepest insecurities. I was terrified of messing up or saying the wrong thing. At first, I would agonize for hours over small errors in episodes, re-recording them countless times.

It took a lot of self-reflection and patience to accept that imperfections are okay. I had to give myself permission to be human and make mistakes without harsh judgment. Learning this has been so freeing creatively.

Now when glitches happen or I stumble over words, I just roll with it. My conversations feel more natural and authentic as a result. I’m also less critical of myself, which has boosted my confidence immensely.

This podcast has pushed me far outside my comfort zone. While challenging at times, growing through that discomfort is so rewarding. I’m proud of how much I’ve evolved in embracing flaws and uncertainty. It’s an ongoing journey, but I’m so grateful for the lessons learned.

Looking back, it’s incredible to see how far I’ve come in terms of vulnerability and self-acceptance through this podcast journey. When I started, the mere thought of sharing intimate details about my life felt terrifying. I had buried so much of my past deep down due to feelings of shame.

Putting myself out there in that first episode was one of the scariest things I’ve ever done. My heart was racing as I opened up about being adopted and the instability of my childhood. But the outpouring of love and support from listeners gave me the courage to keep peeling back more layers.

As I became more comfortable discussing difficult topics, I noticed positive changes in how I viewed myself. Speaking my truths helped me process emotional baggage I’d carried for years. It was like a weight being slowly lifted with each episode.

Now when uncomfortable feelings or limiting beliefs surface, I have tools to work through them. Journaling, meditation and revisiting uplifting listener messages provide comfort and perspective. I’m learning to replace shame with self-compassion.

My hope is that by continuing to be transparent, I can help normalize discussions around mental health, adoption and other challenging life experiences. If sharing messy parts of my journey gives just one person hope, it’s worth any vulnerability. I’m so grateful for the platform to spread that message.

The support from all of you has also made a huge impact. Reaching over 3,000 downloads in just one year still blows me away! Knowing that many people are finding value in what I’m putting out into the world motivates me to keep going. I’m also constantly inspired by the engagement on social media and feedback you provide. It really helps me shape the direction of the show.

As we look ahead to the next chapter, I’m excited to up our episode frequency and try new formats like live coaching sessions. My goal is to provide even more value to your personal growth and happiness through more diverse and interactive content. I also hope to continue cultivating this sense of community where we can learn from one another.

None of this would be possible without your continued support, so thank you from the bottom of my heart. Here’s to many more years of connection, learning and adventure together through Hustle for Happiness. I’m so grateful for each and every one of you and this incredible journey we’ve begun. Here’s to what’s next – I can’t wait to see where we go from here!
